Emergency committee reconvenes; advises that the outbreak is a public health emergency of international concern and the Director-General announces it. The WHO risk assessment for China is very high and considered high at regional- and global levels. Globally, 7,818 confirmed cases of illness from the novel coronavirus have been reported across 19 countries.
