• The EU recommends a coordinated approach to travel within the bloc, with color coding for high-, medium-, and low- risk areas, and standardized measures for travelers from high-risk areas. Source
• Pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi, are drafting a joint pledge not to release a coronavirus vaccine unless it meets rigorous standards for efficacy and safety; senior officials at the US FDA are discussing the release of their own statement about relying on proven science. • The head of OWS, Dr Moncef Slaoui, says there is a “very, very low chance” that results from coronavirus vaccine trials will be available by late October, and that there is “no intent to file before a demonstration of safety and efficacy in the phase III trials.” Source
• Lancet publishes results from phase I/II trials of Sputnik V, which report that the vaccine had a favorable safety profile and that it induced both antibody and T-cell responses in 100% of the 76 study volunteers. Source
