• An international team of researchers reports in a pre-print article that they have developed a nasal spray that prevents ferrets – who become infected in some of the same ways as people – from becoming infected with SARS-CoV-2. The spray can be inexpensively produced as a freeze-dried powder and could be studied in human trials. Source
• Australia added 50 million doses of potential coronavirus vaccines to its 80 million dose stockpile by purchasing 40 million doses of Novavax’s NVX-CoV2373, which entered a phase III trial in September of 2020 and 10 million doses of the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech. Sources 1,2
• Nature Immunology publishes a report that children have a different immune responses to COVID-19 than adults, suggesting the need for age-specific prevention, testing, care and treatment strategies. Source
